Apple TV+ offers Bad Sisters, the Irish comedy series. The winner of 3 BAFTAs, Sharon Hogan, Claes Bang and Eve Hewson star in this dark comedy about a death in the family that may not have been accidental. And it gets an 8.3/10 on IMDb!
Apple TV+ also has Silo, the 2023 sci-fi series. Here, on a toxic future Earth, the population lives underground in a silo, never daring to break the rules by adventuring above ground. But that ends with Juliette Nichols, played by Rebecca Ferguson, who dares to investigate her surroundings, and what lies above, and she may pay with her life. David Oyelowo(!), Iain Glen and Tim Robbins(!) also star, and this series gets an amazing 8.1/10.
And don’t forget High Desert, the quirky mystery/comedy series starring Patricia Arquette(!). Arquette stars as Peggy Newman, a woman with a checkered past, and a troubled present, trying to survive her mother’s death, and get out of debt, all while dealing with a drug addiction. So why not become a private detective, which series everyone as insane, except her, and her astute observations may prove everyone wrong. Matt Dillon(!), Brad Garrett, Weruche Opia and Bernadette Peters(!) also star, and it gets a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.
And if you love dinosaurs(like me), Apple TV+ offers Prehistoric Planet, the BBC science series. Here we get CGI animation of the dinosaurs(and other life) that existed here on Earth 66 million years ago. With exquisite detail, we get to see an episode on each kind of biome they existed in , with environments like swamps, oceans and Badlands featured, and Mososaurs, Hatzegopteryx and even Ammonites depicted, all narrated by David Attenborough(!). And there are 10 episodes in all, and the series gets a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and an 8.5/10(!) on IMDb.
And, if you haven’t heard, Apple TV+ has Ted Lasso, the comedy series. Here is the tale of American football coach Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, hired to manage a British soccer team, AFC Richmond. And faced with a losing team(and angry fans), Lasso has little knowledge of soccer he needs to lead them to victory, but he does have his own unique optimism, which might help them a lot more. Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift and Phil Dunster also star, and it gets an amazing 8.8/10 on IMDb.
And, finally, Apple TV+ has Pachinko, the 2023 drama series. Based on the award-winning 2017 novel by Min Jin Lee(do read it!), this tells the multi-generational story of a Korean family living in a racist Japan, unable to pull themselves from poverty because of job discrimination, until one of them meets a pachinko man. Sunja, played by Minha Kim, is our main protagonist, a woman trying to do more than just survive in a hard scrabble, mostly pre-WWII, world. Yuh-Jung Youn,Minha Kim , Anna Sawai, and Eunchae Jung also star, and this amazing series gets a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
