Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has no big titles adds this week, but they do have The Unknown Country, a 2022 drama. Here, Tana (Lily Gladstone!) heads from South Dakota to Texas after learning of her grandmother’s death there. But on the way, she visits with her Oglala Lakota family and attending her cousin’s wedding. And as she explores her past, and roots, she also makes some unexpected friends along the way. Raymond Lee, Ali Lopez-Sohaili, Richard Ray Whitman and Lainey Bearkiller Shaingreaux also star, and Morrisa Maltz directed. And this movie won multiple awards in 2023 , including Outstanding Lead Performance for Lily Gladstone at the Gotham Awrads, and Best Feature at the 2022 Hell’s Half Mile Film and Music Festival. And it gets a smashing 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Lisa Kennedy of the New York Times said it’s “gentle detours into the real-life stories remind us that it is the people met on the road that so often make the trip memorable.” So I’m tuning in. Hulu has also added London Calling, a 2025 action comedy. This finds Tommy Ward(Josh Duhamel), an aging hitman with bad eyesight, finds himself in hot water after he kills the wrong (mafia)guy. So he leaves London, and finds his way to L.A., but he hates the city and wants to go back to London. So he makes a deal with crime boss to train his teen son, Julian (Jeremy Ray Taylor), to be a hitman, as that’s Julian‘s dream. But he’s not quite made for the job, and as he and Tommy struggle through the training, the London baddies who have a score to settle, have tracked him down, and are hot on his trail. Rick Hoffman, Aidan Gillen and Arnold Vosloo also star, and Allan Ungar directs. But this movie loses it’s way, script-wise, and so gets only a . And Peyton Robinson of RogerEbert.com said it “takes a long time to get on its feet, and once it does, it still stumbles there. It’s a bit of a tropey mess, but the intent is clear: to have fun.” So I won’t be tuning in. Hulu also offers Correr Para Vivir, a 2024 Mexican thriller. This takes place in high in the mountains of Chihuahua, where two Tarahumara brothers , Capó(Manuel Cruz Vivas) and Homero(Vladimir Rivera) are avid runners, and dream of becoming champion marathoners. But living in poverty on their father’s farm, doesn’t offers them much hope of escape. And so Capó makes a deal with a gang, and finds himself running drugs, with no way out. But as Homero takes a different path, and seeks athletic greatness, Capó tries to extricate himself from the criminal life, which threatens to swallow his life. Emma Malacara, Tomihuatzi Xelhuantzi, Osvaldo Sánchez and Eligio Meléndez also star, and Gerardo Dorantes directed. And this movie was nominated for numerous awards in 2025, and won Best Newcomer for Vladimir Rivera at the 2024 Canacine Awards. And it gets a 6.9/10 onIMDb, and Cin Reservas said “as the unique ability to make you feel both alert and lost within the story. This same approach helps the viewer empathize with the characters, allowing them to experience the confusion they are feeling.” And I’m tuning in. And, finally, Hulu has added American Sweatshop, a 2025 drama. Daisy Moriarty( Lili Reinhart) finds herself working as a content moderator of social videos, constantly viewing some of the most horrible human behavior, and deciding whether to approve or delete. During that horrific work, she sees a seriously troubling video, which she thinks shows a violent crime against woman . As her advisor (Christiane Paul) says merely delete or approve, Daisy finds herself more and more troubled by the woman in the video, and set out to take action herself. But when her report to the police is met with little action, Daisy sets out to seek justice on her own. Daniel Melchior, Jeremy Ang Jones, Josh Whitehouse and Tim Plester also star, and Uta Briesewitz directed. And it gets an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Kristy Puchko of Mashable called it “a cool and riveting thriller that gets under your skin, creeping up your spine to bend your brain. Like the internet videos that are its grim inspiration, it’s not easy to shake off the chills American Sweatshop triggers.” So I’m watching.
NETFLIX
Netflix has an exciting add this week with Relay, the 2024 thriller. Riz Ahmed(!) stars, here, as Ash, a loner who runs his company Relay out of his New York City apartment, while working quietly as a fixer for whistleblowers. But Sarah is under constant surveillance, and they find it hard to her to escape New York. And when Ash tries to make a deal, the pair finds that the company might do anything to keep Sarah quiet. Sam Worthington, Willa Fitzgerald, and Jared Abrahamson also star, and David Mackenzie directed. And this movie gets an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 7/10 on IMDb. And Manohla Dargis of the New York Times, who called it “a slick, sneaky thriller that’s elevated by both the actor and the director, David Mackenzie, makes it clear that Ahmed also has a silent-era performer’s gift for feverish stillness.” And I am so tuning in. Netflix has also added 10Dance, a 2025 Japanese romance. Here, dancers Shinya Suzuki (Ryoma Takeuchi) and Shinya Sugiki (Keita Machida) have been competitors in the dance world for years, and finally, Sugiki challenges Suzuki to take part in the 10-Dance competition. During their training for the grueling marathon , they begin to approach each other with tips and adivce, having trained in different kinds of dance. But finally, their friendship leads to something more, but Shimya Sugiki is too conservative to allow a romance. And so they unhappily struggle through the competition, with no idea of what’s to come. Shiori Doi, Anna Ishii, Shinya Hamada, and Oshiro Maeda also star, and Keishi Otomo directs. And this movie gets a shining 7.2/10 on IMDb, and Arpita Samaddar of the Midgard Times says its “a beautifully shot and glamorously depicted dancing movie that is based on a BL manga of the same name..quite good..” So I’m tuning in. Netflix also offers 90’s – A Middle Class Biopic, a 2024 Indian comedy series. This takes place in 1990’s Wanaparthy, India, where Chandra Sekhar(Sivaji) and his wife, Rani(Vasuki Anand), try to manage their meager family finances while raising three children, on Chandra’s teacher salary. Snehal Kamath, Vasanthika, Rohan and Mouli also star, and there are 6 episodes available now. And this series gets a whopping 8.8/10 on IMDb, and called it “beautiful emotional Journey.” And I’m definitely tuning in. Also new and notable on Netflix is Raat Akeli Hai – The Bansal Murders, a 2025 Hindi mystery thriller. Here, when a rich family is massacred in Uttar Pradesh,Inspector Jatil Yadav(Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is called in to investigate. But finally, he begins to unwind the tangle of clues, to find the culprit. Radhika Apte, Chitrangada Singh, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun and Revathi also star, and Honey Trehan directs. And this movie gets a 6.8/10 on IMDb, and Rishabh Suri the Hindustan Times says it “remains compelling. There was scope to make it an even darker investigation drama. But a solid cast and a neatly resolved climax make it a worthy follow-up in spirit, if not in structure.” And I love a mystery, so I’m watching. And , finally, Netflix has Little Hearts, a 2025 Indian Telugu romcom. Here, Akhil Kumar(Mouli Tanuj Prasanth) is laidback and okay with not passing his engineering exams that his dad wanted him to take. So he instead gets a job coaching students like Akula Khathyayani(Shivani Nagaram), who wants to be an engineer, too. But when Akhil falls for Akula and proposes to her, she refuses. And so he sets out to win her approval, and her heart. Rajeev Kanakala, Sai Marthand and S.S. Kanchi also star, and Sai Marthand and Srinu Ponugoti co-direct. And this movie gets an astounding 7.8/10 on IMDb, and Paul Nicodemus of Times of India calls it “breezy and nostalgic. It is a film that wins on relatability and charm, and a fine example of how the right story, told well, can make you smile all through.” And I’m tuning in.
AMAZON
Amazon has added season 2 of Fallout, the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series. Here ,Lucy(Ella Purnell) and bounty hunter Ghoul(Walton Goggins) return, still in a search for Ella‘s (evil) father and for Ghoul‘s wife and child. But as Lucy becomes more confident and able to defend herself, we get flashbacks that show something of Ghoul‘s pre-apocalypse life, that might explain some of his present-day actions. But new villains appear on the horizon, like a tech billionaire who wants has brain implants to test. Aaron Moten, Justin Theroux, Kumail Nanjiani and Macaulay Culkin also star, and there are 6 episodes available for bingeing now. And season 2 of Fallout gets a phenomenal 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Rebecca Onion of Slate says “the Fallout apocalypse is, well, fun—maybe even funner in Season 2 than it was the first time around.” So it’s on my list. Amazon also offers Frontline – Yokohama Bay, a 2025 thriller. Based on a true story, this finds a cruise ship in February 2020 coming into Yokohama with Covid onboard, and the volunteer group Disaster Medical Assistance Team) is called in to meet it. With Dr. Hideharu Yuki (Shun Oguri) at the helm, and little experience(as yet) with the Covid virus, they try to deal with the mass of infected, without a known treatment plan. And this film was nominated for Best Director and Best Film at the 2025 Nikkan Sports Film Awards, and gets a 6.5/10 on IMDb. And the Japan Times calls it “enlightening..it refrains from cheap theatrics: Nerves fray and tempers flare, but shoving and shouting matches are thankfully absent.” So I’m watching. And, finally, Amazon offers Mouse, a 2021 k-drama thriller series. Here, rookie police officer Jung Jae-Hoon(Kim Kang-hoon) comes face to face with a serial killer, that has been terrorizing South Korea for years. When he doesn’t catch him, Jae-hoon is determined to track him down, while professor Daniel Lee(Jo Jae-yoon) is convinced there is a psychopath gene that could identify the killer. But will they capture the so-called ‘head-hunter” before he kills again? Jung Ae-ri, Kwon Hwa-woon and Kim Jung-nan also star, and there are 20 episodes available now. And though dark, this series gets an incredible 8.6/10 on IMDb, and Sarim Khan of Keto Cinema calls it a “chase full of deception. “So it’s on my list.
