Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has an exciting add this week with Twinless, the2024 dramedy. Here, Roman (Dylan O’Brien) finds himself grief stricken and unable to cope, after the sudden death of his twin brother. So he joins a support group for mourning twins, and meets Dennis(James Sweeney), and the two instantly hit it off. And their friendship grows, and they share everything, their grief and their joy. Lauren Graham, Arkira Chantaratananond, and Kody Harvard also star, and James Sweeney directed and wrote the script here, too. And this movie won multiple awards in 2025, including Best Director for Sweeney at the Seattle International Film Festival, and Best Drama and Best Actor for Dylan O’Brien at the Sundance Film Festival. And it gets an outstanding 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a7.4/10 on IMDb. And Aisha Harris of NPR said “there are some twists and turns in this dark comedy, and your tolerance for those directions may vary — but for me at least, watching these two opposites attract and trauma-bond was exciting and satisfying.” And I’m definitely tuning in. Hulu also offers Sitting Bull, a 2025 history series from the History Channel. This tells the fascinating story of Hunkpapa Lakota chief Sitting Bull, with narrating his story, from his rise among to Lakota to become a leader, causing western incursionists plenty of irritation. Enough trouble to bring General Custer to South Dakota , and his infamous end at Little Bighorn. Sitting Bull then went on to become even more famous, finally working with Buffalo Bill Cody, still working for the protection of his people. Mo Brings Plenty narrates all 4 episodes here, and the Executive Producers on this series include Leonardo DiCaprio, Crystal Echo Hawk, and Illuminative, which bring native insight to a previously(and too often) white man’s trope. And this series gets an incredible 7.6/10 on IMDb, and John Anderson of the Wall Street Journal said it “valuable, putting documentary flesh on a mythic figure and detailing the political realities that led the U.S. to follow the policies it did.” And I’m definitely watching. Hulu has also added Fremont, the 2023 drama. This tells the story of Donya(Anaita Wali Zada) an Afghan refugee, new to the U.S. and Fremont, a Bay area neighborhood, also called Little Kabul. Based on Agatha Christie’s 1929 novel, this tells of Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent(Mia McKenna-Bruce), who finds her suitor, Gerry Wade (Corey Mylchreest), has died. And, finally, Netflix has added Can This Love Be Translated?, a 2026 K-drama romcom. Here, actress Cha Mu-hee (Go Youn-jung) , 0is travelling the world on a promotional tour for her movie, but she needs an interpreter. Enter Ho-jin (Kim Seon-ho), a man who will travel with her around the world. But as they travel together, and a relationship grows, they might find the real world intruding, to ruin any chance of a relationship. In this second season, former British soldier and manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo , Jonathan Pine(Tom Hiddleston!)continues to work as an agent for Angel Burr(Olivia Colman!). Diego Calva, Camila Morrone and Douglas Hodge also star, and there are 6 episodes available now. And this series gets a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Kaiya Shunyata of RogerEbert.com says it’s ” more gripping than ever. ….masterfully directed by Georgi Banks-Davies, who peel[s] back the gaudy reputation of this genre and revel in the inherent eroticism of deception.” So it’s on my list. Amazon has also added The Last Front, a 2024 historical war thriller movie. This takes place in 1914 Flanders, Belgium, where the quiet bucolic life of Lambert family is suddenly (and rudely) interrupted by the invading Germans. This follows three recruit to the Police Service of Northern Ireland in Belfast, Ireland. With two months left on their probation, the rookies, including Grace (Siân Brooke), endure bullying from citizens and their fellow officers, as the pressure of their job’s demands rises, and the dangers inherent in them, grow. And this series won many awards, including Best Drama Series at the 2025 BAFTA Awards, and gets an amazing 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. And Graeme Blundell of The Australian called it “relentless, unnerving, urgent storytelling and TV drama that matters.” So I’m watching. but be sure to binge before February 1 when it all returns to Britbox premium territory.
