Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has an exciting add this week with Is This Thing On?, the 2025 dramedy. Loosely based on the life of Brit comic John Bishop, this finds Alex Novak(Will Arnett!), facing the end of his marriage to Tess(Laura Dern!), along with financial hardship. So he decides to try open mic night at the Comedy Cellar, to pay his bills. and as Novak becomes more and more involved in stand-up, Tess begins anew her sports career, put on hold for their marriage. and the pair find new independence with divorce, along with sorrow and pain. Bradley Cooper!, Andra Day, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, and Ciarán Hinds also star, and Bradley Cooper directs. And this movie premiered at the New York Film Festival and gets an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Nikki Gemmell of The Australian said its a “playful, nervy title, just like this movie. Its perceptive wisdom will stay with me.” And I’m tuning in. Hulu has also added Hot Milk, a 2025 drama. Based on a book by Deborah Levy, this finds Sophia (Emma Mackey) working tirelessly as the full-time caregiver for her manipulative mom Rose (Fiona Shaw!). But as they travel to Spain to seek a new treatment for Rose’s mysterious illness, it becomes clear that her disease is at least in part psychological. While Sophia slips into a relationship that might finally bring her some freedom, if not danger, as well. Vincent Perez, Vicky Krieps(!) and Patsy Ferran also star, while Rebecca Lenkiewicz directed. And this movie was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, and Ellen E Jones of the Observer (UK) says “this is storytelling that bares its teeth, but it’s not the most comfortable place to spend time.” So, though it gets but a 5.6/10 on IMDb, I’ll be watching. Hulu also offers King Ivory, a 2024 crime thriller. This takes place in Oklahoma, where fentanyl is holding sway, even over Tulsa cop Layne West (James Badge Dale), whose son is addicted. As he and his family try to deal with that dilemma, drug lords, dealers, and cons like Holt Lightfeather(Graham Greene!) mange to keep the supply flowing, from inside his prison cell. Ben Foster, Melissa Leo(!), and Michael Mando also star, and John Swab directed. And it gets a 72% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Carla Hay of Culture Mix called it “a flawed but absorbing drama with multiple storylines about people affected by the buying and selling of fentanyl. The talented acting performances hold the movie together during the most cumbersome moments.” Definitely too violent for me, but the pickings are slim of Hulu this week. And, finally, Hulu has In Your Radiant Season, a 2026 Kdrama romance series. This finds Song Ha-ran (Lee Sung-kyung) still grieving what she thought was the death of her boyfriend, Seonu Chan (Chae Jong-hyeop), in an explosion, seven years ago. So when Chan comes to Seoul, but stricken with memory problems, and sees her again for an instant, she is baffled at who he is. But slowly, she awakens to her past life and love, and finds herself on the brink of happiness. Lee Mi-sook, Firas A. Naji and Han Ji-hyun also star, and there are 8 episodes available for stream now. And this series gets a whopping 8/10 on IMDb, and Ty’Kira Smalls of Common Sense Media said it “mixes grief, trauma, and romance into an intriguing storm. In Your Radiant Season is as heartwarming as it is sometimes heart wrenching.” So I’m tuning in.
NETFLIX
Netflix has few big titles added this week, but they do have Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, a 2026 drama. Here, Tommy Shelby(Cillian Murphy!), returns to 1940’s Birmingham, after years of self-imposed exile, when he learns his estranged son, Duke (Barry Keoghan), is in trouble. Duke is the current leader of the Peaky Blinders gang, and getting involved with Nazi’s, who want to flood England with counterfeit bank notes. But Duke doesn’t want any help or advice from his mostly absent father, and so the battle for his soul, and England’s freedom, rages on, with bloody fervor. Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Barry Keoghan, Stephen Graham, and Sophie Rundle also star, and Tom Harper directs. and this movie gets a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Bob Mondello of NPR says it “is grim and gritty, muddy and bloody, and as steeped in the anguish of this Romani family‘s memories as any “Peaky Blinders” fan could wish.” So it’s on my list. Netflix has also added Sisu: Road to Revenge, the 2025 action adventure sequel. Here, Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) returns, after fighting Nazis in the first film, sets his sights on the Red Army commander Igor Draganov (Stephen Lang) who killed Korpi’s family. Dragonov returned to Finland to take out Korpi, but, of course, things don’t go as he planned. Richard Brake, Pääru Oja and Tommi Korpela also star, while Jalmari Helander directs. And this movie gets a shocking 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Mike McCahill of the Guardian said it’s “more-of-the-same sequel. The good news is that it remains terrific: punchy, old-school stunt work, crisply uncluttered cutting, and varied, inventive baddie-splattering.” You decide, it’s a bit too violent for me. Netflix has also added Made in Korea, a 2026 Tamil drama. Here, Shenba (Priyanka Mohan), has been obsessed with South Korea since she was a kid, but finally gets to go when her boyfriend is going to propose. But that romance was only a con, and Shenba ends up in Seoul, alone. But as she takes a job as a caregiver to an older woman, with whom she forges a bond. And soon, the pair open a restaurant together, that could bring them both happiness, if it doesn’t all get derailed by a misunderstanding. Park Hye-jin, Jaehyun Jang and Rishikanth also star, while Ra Karthik directs. And this movie gets a 6/10 on IMDb, and Lachmi Deb Roy of Firstpost calls it ” a delightful watch..brought to life with authenticity and emotional depth.” So I’m tuning in. Netflix also offers KPop Demon Hunters, the award-winning 2025 animated fantasy musical. A movie I was remiss not to mention before, this tells the story of the girl group HUNTR/X, made up of Rumi(Arden Cho), Mira(May Hong), and Zoey(Ji-young Yoo), who use the power of their voices to protect the world from the demons that threaten to invade. Trained by the former demon hunt.er Celine, the group works on their next song Golden, hoping it will at last seal the world off forever from the demons. But the demons have plans of their own, forming a boy band Saja Boys, that will steal popularity from HUNTR/X, and thereby, their power. Ahn Hyo-seop, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Lee Byung-hun, and Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans co-directed. And this movie has won tons of awards, including the two Oscars it won last Sunday, for Best Song and Best Animated Feature Film. And it gets an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Kelechi Ehenulo of Empire Magazine called it “a stunning musical treat, a joy for all ages. Now warm up the vocal cords and bring on the sequel.” So I’m watching. And, finally, Netflix has added Radioactive Emergency, a 2026 Brazilian drama series. Based on a true story, this tells of a nuclear disaster in 1987 Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil, where impoverished scrap collectors discover an abandoned clinic. Inside, they discover a device that holds Caesium-137, unaware of it’s poisonous radiation, only transfixed by it’s magical colors, selling the substance to the scrap dealer, Evenildo. But when people start falling ill, a doctor asks nuclear physicist Marcio(Johnny Massaro) to investigate what was going on. and Marcio finds that the toxic Cesium-137 has been spread throughout the town, and authorities have little time to prevent a widespread disaster. Paulo Gorgulho, Ana Costa, Bukassa Kabengele, and Alan Rocha also star, and there are 5 episodes available for streaming now. And this series gets an astounding 7.5/10 on IMDb, and Archi Sengupta of Leisure Byte calls it “a thrilling, raw and nauseating watch. With grounded performances and a realistic worldbuilding, this one gets under your skin quickly.” And I’m tuning in.
AMAZON
Amazon has added Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, the 2026 doumentary-style comedy series. In it’s second season of trickery, Anthony Norman, a real temp, finds himself hired at Rockin’ Grandma’s Hot Sauce (a fake company). Norman is told he will be helping organize the company’s annual retreat, while participating in a documentary about small businesses. But all around him are actors, staging all the situations he encounters, sometimes just barely Norman discovering their duplicity. Blair Beeken, Alex Bonifer, Warren Burke and Marc Sully Saint-Fleur also star, and there are 3 episodes available now, with 5 more to come. And this series gets an outlandish 8.2/10 on IMDb, and Clint Worthington of RogerEbert.com says season two “manages to pull off the impossible feat of making lightning strike twice. All while making the subject of its deception look not like a rube, but frankly a saint who brings out the best in everyone around him. And to do that while also delivering some deeply cringe laughs is nothing short of miraculous.” So I’m watching. But Amazon also offers season 2 of Deadloch, a 2026 Australian crime comedy series. Here, detectives Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami) head for Australia’s sweltering Top End,(the Northern Territory), investigating the death of Eddie’s former partner Bushy. But then a body is found in the nearby river, that of a local icon, and the pair are sent to dig for clues in that murder. And they find a feud between a powerful local family and a croc park, Land of Crocs, that could have turned deadly. And no one in town wants answer questions from a couple of city cops. Nina Oyama, Alicia Gardiner, Luke Hemsworth, and Shari Sebbens also star, and there are 6 episodes available for streaming now. And this series gets a stunning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Peter Gray of The AU Review said it “remains one of the most distinctive and exciting series on Australian television.” So I’m tuning in. But subtitles are crucial for yanks like me, because the accents here are thick. And, finally, Amazon has added Roofman, the 2025 dramedy. Based on a true story, this tells the story of Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), a former Army Reserve officer, who robbed businesses by entering through their roof doors, and robbing workers at gunpoint. Sentenced to 45 years, Manchester then escapes prison, hiding out in a Toys R Us store for six months. But then he meets employee, Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), and starts to fall for her. And he begins to question his history of bad decisions, and years of crime. LaKeith Stanfield, Uzo Aduba(!), Lily Collias, and Kennedy Moyer also star, and Derek Cianfrance directs. And this movie gets an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Christy Lemire of FilmWeek (LAist) called it a “very strange but very entertaining movie.” So it’s on my list.
So sit back and binge this weekend, on classics, old and new, on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Enjoy!
