Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has an incredible add this week with The Testament of Ann Lee, the 2025 biographical drama. This movie tells the story of Shaker sect founder Ann Lee(Amanda Seyfried!), through the tales of her followers. Obsessed with religion from a young age, Lee and her brother William (Lewis Pullman) joined a sect run by Jane Wardley (Stacy Martin), which used dancing and shaking as a way of purging sin. There she met her husband Abraham (Christopher Abbott) but after enduring several infant deaths and other trials, Lee becomes convinced that sex is ungodly, and she founds the Shaker sect, based on that principle. And she goes on to find joy, and heartbreak, as it’s leader. Thomasin McKenzie, Matthew Beard and Viola Prettejohn also star, while Mona Fastvold directed this movie gets an 86% in Rotten Tomatoes, and Coleman Spilde of Salon.com said “Mona Fastvold’s magnificent religious epic, “The Testament of Ann Lee,” is the finest piece of cinema this year — a startling and clear-headed work of genius, led by a remarkable Amanda Seyfried in the film’s titular role.” And I’m definitely watching. Hulu also offers Pizza Movie, the 2026 comedy. Here, two college roommates, Jack (Gaten Matarazzo),and Montgomery(Sean Giambrone), are tired of not fitting in, decide to take some psychedelics called Mints. But Mints are supposed to be taken with pizza, otherwise they can have horrific side effects. So, Jack and Montgomery go on a desperate trip to get pizza, while dodging the otherworldly terrors that now inhabit their dorm. And trying to evade their RA, Blake(Jack Martin), who can bring horrors of his own. Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Sarah Sherman and Lulu Wilson also star, while Nick Kocher, and Brian McElhaney co-direct. And this movie gets a surprising 82% on rotten Tomatoes, and Grant Hermanns of Screen Rant says “while it’s easy enough to write its premise off as being a Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle repeat, Pizza Movie actually proves to be way more innovative and inspired in its storytelling.” So it’s on my list. Hulu has also added also offers Dear Killer Nannies, a 2026 Mexican/Colombian crime drama series. Co-created by Escobar’s son Juan Pablo Escobar, this tells the story of 7 year-old Juan Pablo(Miguel Tamayo), or Juampi. But being the son of a drug kingpin is dangerous in itself, and so Juampi’s caregivers were also assassins, ready to protect the boy, stopping at nothing. The boy was also exposed to brash violence and his father’s harsh insults at a young age, with no help to cope. As he grew older, he found himself expected to take the reins of his father’s awful empire, with no way out. Julián Zuluaga, Janer Villareal and Laura Rodríguez also star, and Juan Pablo Escobar himself narrates each of the 8 episodes available now. And this series gets a 6.1/10 on IMDb, and Micha Frazer-Carroll of the Guardian calls it “a surprisingly gut-punching Pablo Escobar drama.” But too violent for me. And finally, Hulu offers If It’s Tuesday, It’s Murder, the Disney+ 2026 Spanish mystery series. Here, Spanish tourists on an organized trip to Portugal, but after getting off their bus in Lisbon, they’re boarded in an eerie hotel. And when they wake, one of their tour group is found dead, and the travelers take it upon themselves to find the killer. But not before more bodies pile up. Inma Cuesta, Ana Wagener, Biel Montoro and Álex García, also star, and there are 7 episodes available now. and this series gets a 6.8/10 on IMDb, and Karina “ScreamQueen” Adelgaard of Heaven of Horror says “if you like a solid “whodunnit” with dark humor and lots of charm in its character-driven plot, then do check it out.” And I love a mystery, so I’m definitely tuning in.
NETFLIX
Netflix has an exciting add this week with Merrily We Roll Along, the 2025 Broadway musical. Filmed live on Broadway, this lets viewers see Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning 1981 musical, which follows the friendship of composer Frank Shepard(Jonathan Groff) and his two lifelong friends, writer Mary Flynn (Lindsay Mendez) and playwright Charley (Daniel Radcliffe!), through three decades of trials and celebrations. As the play goes back in time, and Frank abandons composing to go to Hollywood and make the big money, it becomes clear Charley resents Frank’s selling out. And when Frank tries to talk Charley into going Hollywood, Mary tries to sooth Charley’s ire, and reunite the friends. Still, it becomes clear Mary holds a torch for Frank, who never noticed her attachment. Krystal Joy Brown, Reg Rogers, and Katie Rose Clarke also star, and Maria Friedman directs. And this movie gets a stupendous 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times said “there are lessons to be learned from the modest goals of this “Merrily We Roll Along”: to bring a movie audience to the life of the stage and, in so doing, to those thorny stages of life.” So I’m tuning in. But Netflix also offers 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the 2026 horror sequel. Here, many of the characters from 28 Years Later return, with Spike(Alfie Williams) joining the group of survivors led by Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell), while Dr. Kelson(Ralph Fiennes!) tries to cure an alpha-infected male, Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry). But as Dr. Kelson befriends Samson and senses he is close to a cure for alpha, Crystal is headed his way, with a violent collision in the making. Connor Newall, Erin Kellyman, and Maura Bird also star, and Nia DaCosta directed. And this movie gets a surprising 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Wendy Ide of the Observer (UK) called it “a macabre morality tale about the best and worst of human nature. It is utterly brutal, and one of the most compelling so far.” But you know it’s too scary for me. Luckily, Netflix also offers Alkhallat+: The Series, a 2026 Saudi comedy series. This is an anthology series, with each episode telling a different story. The first has a young man Rakan(Umar Al Qadi)trying to convince his father of his masculinity, with macho acts, only to fall short. The second finds a bumbling security guard, too, unable to impress a beautiful woman with manly cruelty, finally realizing his error. And the third episode, called Mars Race, has two American astronauts vying to become the first to go to Mars, even hiring a producer Saad (Abdullah AlDrees), to chronicle their efforts. What follows is a comedy of errors with no one coming out ahead. Mohammed Aldokhei, Malik Nejer, Ziyad Alamri, and Myriem BouKadida also star, and there are 4 episodes available for streaming now. And this series gets an astonishing 7.5/10 on IMDb, and Vikas Yadav of the Midgard Times calls it “a sweet, funny, and delightful film.” So I’m watching. Netflix has also added Feel My Voice, a 2026 Italian drama. The story here revolves around Eletta Musso(Sarah Toscano), a hearing teen born and raised in the deaf community, on a farm, who acts as the conduit between her family and the outside world. But then Eletta‘s singing talent gets noticed at school, and she has a chance to audition for a school for professional singers, that would take her away from her family. And as her mother fears what leaving would do to her daughter, Eletta herself wrestles with the guilt of ‘abandoning’ her family. Serena Rossi, Antonio Iorillo and Carola Insolera also star, while Luca Ribuoli directs. And this movie gets a 6.8/10 on IMDb, and Neerja Choudhuri of the Midgard Times calls it “a great watch. It is sweet, gentle, yet holds a lot of depth in what it serves to the audience.” So I’m tuning in. And, finally, Netflix has added Sins of Kujo, a 2026 Japanese legal drama series. This follows lawyer Taiza Kujo(Yuya Yagira), as he defends clients who appear to be guilty, bending the law to win their case. His friend and idealistic colleague, Shinji Karasuma(Hokuto Matsumura), takes the opposite view, questioning Kujo in his morality. But as the two work together, Shinji finds that Kujo has reasons for defending his clients, and that he does, indeed, have a moral code, after all. Elaiza Ikeda, Keita Machida and Takuma Otoo also star, and there are 10 episodes available for streaming now. And this series gets a whopping 8/10 on IMDb, and Srijoni Rudra of DMT calls it “a gripping J-Drama that puts to test the idea of morality.” So I’m definitely watching.
