Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has some amazing adds this week, beginning with The Testaments, the 2026 dystopian drama series. This sequel follows Agnes (Chase Infiniti!), kidnapped daughter of June (Elizabeth Moss), raised in the oppressive Aunt Lydia School. Run by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd), where “Plums,” or young women, are trained to be submissive Wives to older men, Agnes meets Daisy (Lucy Halliday), who is actually a spy, trained by June. Not allowed to read or write, the girls accept the public executions, and the sexual grooming that is part of their daily lives. But Daisy‘s presence upsets that equilibrium, and her friendship with Agnes upends her peaceful world. Mattea Conforti, Rowan Blanchard, Mabel Li and Isolde Ardies also star, and there are 5 episodes available for bingeing now. And this series gets an outstanding 8.1/10 on IMDb, and Aramide Tinubu of Variety says it’s “an exemplary follow-up to the original series. It is also a magnificent coming-of-age story that draws terrifying parallels to the modern-day experiences of women living in a misogynistic society emboldened by religious psychosis.” And I am so tuning in. But Hulu also has added Sirât, the 2025 award-winning Spanish/French dramatic thriller. Here, Luis (Sergi López) and his son Esteban (Bruno Núñez Arjona) search for Esteban’s sister, Mar, who has been missing for months. A fan of rave cultures, the path (Sirât) leads them to Morocco, and they search raves there. But the world is on the verge of WW III, and armed soldiers and havoc meet the family at every turn. Stefania Gadda, Joshua Liam Herderson, Jade Oukid, and Richard ‘Bigui’ Bellamy also star, while Oliver Laxe directed, and co-wrote the script with Santiago Fillol. And this movie premiered at the 2025 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize and the Palm Dog. It also got 11 nominations at the 40th Goya Awards, and went on to win 5 awards, there, and won Best Feature Film at the 2025 Denver Film Festival. And it gets an astounding 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com called it “a reminder of what movies can do when they loosen the restraints of traditional narrative and remember that images are meant to evoke as much as they are to explain.” But for a movie that’s been compared to Mad Max, it’s too intense (and violent) for me. Luckily, Hulu has also added Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, the 2026 comedy series. This sequel begins about 20 years after the original, with Malcolm(Frankie Muniz!), his daughter Leah(Keeley Karsten) and girlfriend Tristan(Kiana Madeira), living a happy life, safely distanced from the rest of his family. But then, his parents Hal(Bryan Cranston!) and Lois(Jane Kaczmarek!) demands his presence at their 40th anniversary party, and the chaos comes crashing back into his life. And while Tristan encourages Malcolm to embrace his family, he is reluctant to reconnect. Christopher Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Emy Coligado also star, and there are 4 episodes available now. And this series gets an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, andRobert Lloyd of the Los Angeles Times says “it’s true to itself. It gets a little sentimental and a little serious in the clutch; there will be closure, self-realization and ego death. And, as if embarrassed by the whole business, the show will do something crazy to blast the tear from your eye.” So it’s on my list. And, finally, Hulu has added Perfect Crown, a 2026 Disney+ Kdrama romance series. These follows Sung Hui-ju(IU), head of Castle Beauty company, but still an outcast, as she was born out of wedlock, to a wealthy businessman. But Hui-ju is determined to regain her rightful place in society, and so approaches the Crown Prince Yian(Byeon Woo-seok), with a proposal of marriage. As a regent for the 9 year-old king, without the promise of a real title. but he at first refuses her. But with his mother’s constant pressure for him to marry, he accepts, and the pair begin an awkward contract marriage, that somehow grows into something more profound. Noh Sang-hyun, Gong Seung-yeon, Yoo Su-bin, Choi Ji-su and Lee Si-hun also star, and there are 2 episodes available for streaming now. And this series gets a whopping 8.2/10 on IMDb, and Taniya CJ of Leisure Byte calls it a “compelling blend of romance, drama, and societal pressure.”
NETFLIX
Netflix has a big add this week with Big Mistakes, a 2026 comedy/thriller series. This finds two hapless, and emotionally distant, siblings, Nicky(Daniel Levy!), and Morgan(Taylor Ortega) in a lot of trouble when they go to buy a necklace for their Grandma‘s burial, and Morgan impulsively shoplifts a trinket. But that trinket, of course, is very valuable, and when store clerk Yusuf (Boran Kuzum) catches them, they end up being blackmailed. And with Yusuf forcing them to work for the mob, they sink into deeper and deeper trouble. But when their mom, Linda(Laurie Metcalf!), finds out, she may be more trouble than the mob can handle. Abby Quinn, Elizabeth Perkins and Jack Innanen also star, and there are 8 episodes available for bingeing now. And this series, written by Levy and Rachel Senott(!),gets an incredible 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Jenna Scherer of the AV Club calls it a “dark, odd-couple comedy with legs…” that “can make you feel just as good as the feel-good variety.” So I’m definitely tuning in. Netflix has also added Thrash, a 2026 disaster movie. This finds a small coastal town hit by a Category 5 hurricane, and residents like Lisa Fields(Phoebe Dynevor), run for cover when one of the levees fail. But Lisa is 9 months pregnant, and trapped in the rising waters, while marine researcher Dale Edwards (Djimon Hounsou), seeks to rescue his agoraphobic niece, Dakota (Whitney Peak), who may be Lisa's only hope for getting out alive. But when hungry sharks arrive in the area, all bets are off. Matt Nable, Andrew Lees, and Stacy Claussen also star, and Tommy Wirkola directs. And though this movie gets only a 37% on Rotten Tomatoes, Archi Sengupta of the Leisure Byte calls it “surprisingly intense survival thriller.” You decide. Netflix also offers Benedetta, a 2021 Italian historical bio-drama. Based on a true story, this takes place in 17th-century Pescia, Italy, where Benedetta Carlini(Virginie Efira) joins a convent as a child. But as she grows up, Benedetta becomes more drawn to women’s causes, and especially, a novice named Bartolemea(Daphne Patakia). But as she begins to experiences visions, and perform miracles, she also develops a relationship with Bartolemea. So Abbess Sister Felicita (Charlotte Rampling!) begins to investigate, which could be big trouble for both the rebellious nun and the church. Lambert Wilson, Olivier Rabourdi and Louise Chevillotte also star, while Paul Verhoeven directed. And this movie was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival gets an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, and John Nugent of Empire Magazine said a “funny, filthy, iconoclastic riot. Paul Verhoeven’s latest erotic satire won’t be for all creeds, but it is bursting with enough ideas that even doubters can find something to believe in here. So it’s on my list. Netflix has also added Tu Yaa Main, a 2026 romantic Hindi thriller. Here, Ms. Vanity, or Avani (Shanaya Kapoor). has made a name for herself as a content creator, with a mansion to prove it. But when she catches aspiring rapper Ala Flowpata aka Maruti (Adarsh Gourav), using her mansion for his videos, she unexpectedly falls for him. But as they head to Goa for a vacation, Maruti’s bike breaks down, and they end up at a seedy resort on the Arabian coast. Little do they know, there is a croc terrorizing the area, that they will meet face to face in the pool, and fight to survive. Parul Gulati, Sanjay Appan and Amruta Khanvilkar also star, and Bejoy Nambiar directs. And this movie gets a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Anisha Rao of India Today called it a “gripping thriller that fuses modern romance with edge-of-your-seat survival drama in Mumbai.” but a bit too tense for me. And, finally, Netflix has added Affair, a 2026 Thai romantic drama series. Here, two childhood friends, Pleng(Saranphat Pedersen) and Wanwiwa(Punyapa Wangpongsathaporn),are separated by their class differences. But as they reach adulthood, they reconnect, and find a fast relationship. but as others enter their lives, complications arise. And when one becomes engaged, their bond is threatened to be forever ruined. Pop Pataraphol Wanlopsiri, Chalita Fuangarom, and Apasiri Nitibhon also star, and there are 8 episodes available now. And this series gets a whopping 8.2/10 on IMDb, and so, though I can find no online reviews, I’m watching.

This times, Homelander (Antony Starr) is out of control, and in charge of the U.S. government, and the Butcher crew has got to strike back. But many of them are in prison, so the free members- Billy(Karl Uban), Starlight(Erin Moriarty), and Kimiko(Karen Fukuhara) among them- decide to break the others out of jail. Fortunately, it’s also still extremely entertaining and on-point with its social (and yes, political) commentary.” So I’m watching. But Amazon also offers My Worst Neighbor, a 2023 K-drama romcom. Here, when aspiring singer Seung-jinling(Lee Ji-hoon) moves into his new apartment, he hears horrible, unearthly noises coming from next-door.
