Yes, the sad news recently released is that Warner Media, under AT&T, will be shutting down Filmstruck .com, one of the best streaming sites for movie fans of all kinds, classics, cult, arthouse, etc. Variety said AT&T were ” cutting niche-oriented business ventures.” It just so happens that some of those “niche-oriented business ventures” have some of the best movies and services around! So if you want to save Filmstruck from this ignominious end, Change.org and Kevin Barr have a petition for Warner Media to save the streaming site that as Barr puts it ” is not just a niche market, it is a massive archive dedicated to keeping art of the past alive, much in the way a museum keeps artists from centuries ago alive. It deserves to live, not only to provide an outlet for film lovers of the past but also to create new fans through the next several generations, and perhaps open some more eyes along the way.” I agree! If you want to sign, you’ll find the petition here! I’m signing, too!
