Yes, a few weeks ago, Filmstruck closed it’s door to new members, but Kanopy, a new free website run through libraries in your area, also has The Criterion Collection! This includes classic films from all over the world, made by great directors like Akira Kurosawa, Charlie Chaplin, Ingmar Bergman, Agnes Varda and Vittorio De Sica. And classics like The Great Dictator, Rashoman, The 400 Blows and 8 1/2. And they have new releases too, like Marwencol, Madeline’s Madeline, First Reformed and Moonlight! The bad news? There’s a limit, that each library sets. For mine, in Portland, it is 6 a month. But it’s a wonderful free source for classic movies, from around the world! So sign up here for Kanopy now, they’ll find your local library, for you! And if you don’t of knowledge, have a library card, get one, you’ll find a wonderful oasis of books, as well.
