This year, there’s more chance than ever to stream the winners at the Academy Awards. So let’s get right to it!
Netflix has the most winners, with Alfonso Cuarón‘s Roma winning the Best Foreign Film category(though not Best Picture), Best Director and Cinematography.Green Book was the Best Picture winner, and, unfortunately, though it’s available to stream on Pay-Per-View, that’s too pricey for most people, and I hear it will go to HBO to stream(I don’t know when), so maybe this Spring it will be available there. Netflix also has the winning Documentary Short Subject, Period. End of Sentence, a stirring and important movie by director Rayka Zehtabchi about making menstrual pads affordable and less stigmatized for girls and women who missed school and work, because they were previously too expensive or unavailable entirely. And finally, Netflix has Black Panther, the winner of three Academy Awards, including Best Production Design, Costume Design and Original Score. Regina King won Best Supporting Actress for James Baldwin‘s If Beale Street Could Talk, which isn’t yet available, except for pay-per-view, but Regina King is available in Support the Girls, the 2018 comedy about a woman managing a sports bar. And, finally, Olivia Coleman won the Best Actress Award for The Favorite, which unfortunately isn’t yet available, The Crown, Broadchurch, and Flowers, a British comedy series. So enjoy your Academy Award winning performances and stay tuned for more news about streaming more award winning movies!
