Karol Sevilla, Katie Barberi, and Maurizio Lombardi also star, while Edgar San Juan directed. And this movie won multiple awards in 2025, like Best First Feature Film at the Premios Canacine. And it gets a 6.4/10 on IMDb, and Oscar Andrew of La Estatuilla calls it “an outstanding product that not only entertains, but goes further in the discourses it handles, because in addition to seeking to unmask political life, it also puts on the table social issues that are often ignored or, to this day, many people overlook.” And I am so watching. Hulu also offers Cat’s Eyes, a 2024 French thriller series. Here, sisters Alexia(Claire Romain), Tam (Camille Lou) and Sylia(Constance Labbé) reunite in Paris, when their missing father’s painting is see at an exhibition in the Eiffel Tower. And it received four nominations at the 2026 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Stone. And it gets a rousing 7.4/10 on IMDb, and Wendy Ide of the Observer(UK) said “the characters might be demented, but Bugonia is a crueller, funnier, sharper proposition, more grounded and gritty than the wigged-out weirdness of the film on which it is based.” So its on my list. Netflix also offers Je m’appelle Agneta, a 2026 Swedish dramedy. Based on the novel of the same name by Emma Hamberg, this tells the story of Agneta (Eva Melander) a depressed 50-ish empty nester, whose life seems destined to be unfulfilled. And, finally, Netflix has added Light to the Night, a 2026 Chinese mystery series. This all revolves around the disappearance of a father and daughter in an apartment complex elevator, in 1997, which Detective He Yuanhang (Pan Yueming) and his young apprentice Ran Fangxu (Dylan Wang Pan) investigated. Years later, in 2018, He Yuanhang‘s daughter, He Xiaohe (Ren Min) continues the search for clues, with her father, as the complex is threatened with demolition. Here, 19 year-old Agastya, (Mihir Ahuja), a math prodigy nicknamed Gust, is convinced all problems can be solved with a good mathematical equation. So when his mom Vinita(Maya Singh) needs a suitor, Gust, thinks he can find an algorithm that will find her the perfect man.
