Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has added Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, the 2026 horror flick. This sequel picks up where the original ended, with Grace(Samara Weaving) having survived the violent initiation of her in-laws, the satanic Le Domas family. But that was only the beginning, it seems, because with the Le Domas family gone, the place at the top of what turns out to be a group of evil families, is open. And so she returns, with her sister, Faith (Kathryn Newton) — to the Le Domas’ mansion, to be hunted by vicious millionaires, presided over by the Lawyer (Elijah Wood!). Sarah Michelle Gellar(!), Olivia Cheng and Shawn Hatosy also star, while Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett co-direct. And this movie gets a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Nick Schager of the Daily Beast said “thanks to a host of colorful performances and an emphasis on over-the-top violence, they mostly pull off their double-dip trick.” But it’s still too gory for me. Hulu has also added Straight, a 2024 Spanish drama. This tells the story of banker, Roberto (Alejandro Speitzer), who, as his girlfriend Elia (Bárbara López), talks of moving in, begins to rethink his sexuality. For one thing, there’s Cris (Franco Masini), the man he hooks up with regularly, and as their meetings continue, Roberto is torn between his two lives. And as his two lovers learn the truth, they vie to be the only person in Roberto’s life. Ana Kupfer, Sebastian Jaimes and Maria De Anda al also star, and Marcelo Tobar directed. And though this movie gets but a 5.6/10 on IMDb, it also gets good reviews, like that of Zachary Wild of Rectangular View who called it “an interesting film about sexual identity and acceptance.” So I’m tuning in.Hulu also offers Bodies Bodies Bodies, the 2022 horror movie. Here, Bee(Maria Bakalova) and her wealthy friend Sophie(Amandla Stenberg), to a ‘hurricane party’ at the mansion of David(Pete Davidson). With other friends there, and plenty of liquor and drugs, the gang decides to play a murder game, Bodies Bodies Bodies. But soon, of course, as the storm whips up, the murders begin for real, and the survivors have to figure out whodunit, before it’s too late. Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pace also star, and Halina Reijn directed. And this movie gets an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Edward Porter of the Financial Times said it “crackles with life. It has a caustic script, a stormy atmosphere and a talented cast.” But far too gory for me. And, finally, Hulu has added Everything Everywhere All at Once, the 2022 sci-fi comedy. Here, the mundane life of Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh!) and Waymond Wang(Ke Huy Quan),owners of a laundromat, is thrown into chaos, all at once, when Evelyn notices small disruptions in time all around her. Because a rip has opened in the space-time continuum, and an evil presence is spreading through the multiverse. And Evelyn is told she may be the only one who can save all the parallel universes. So she’s pulled from her regular life while going to a tax audit with her father, to fight the many evil beings that threaten everyone, everywhere. And Evelyn surprises everyone, even herself, as she fights for the universe.Stephanie Hsu(!), James Hong(!), and Jamie Lee Curtis(!) also star, while Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert co-directed. And this movie won tons of awards in 2023, and 7 Oscars, including Best Supporting Actress for Jamie Lee Curtis, Best Directing for Kwan and Scheinert, Best Actor for Ke Huy Quan, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh and Best Picture. And it gets an outstanding 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Weiting Liu of Little White Lies called it “an all-encompassing, therapeutic Asian American film for us who build our identities around and seek to heal from cinema.” And I’m so tuning in. Again.

Netflix has few big titles added this week, but they do have Per Aspera Ad Astra, a 2026 Chinese sci-fi action comedy movie. This takes place in the near-future, with space colonization a commonplace occurrence. As people are allowed to dream while hibernating on their voyage, a glitch on one ship occurs, which requires system administrator Xu Tianbiao (Dylan Wang) to enter the dreams of Captain Li Simeng (Victoria Song) in order to save their ship. Feng Zu, Haiqiong Luo and Duo Wang also star, while Yan Han directs. And this movie gets a 6.4/10 on IMDb, and Sarah Manvel of Movies We Texted About calls it a “super fun thrill ride about the importance of people over machines.” So I’m definitely watching. Netflix has also added Summer ’36, a 2026 French mystery series. This takes place in 1936, with everyone heading to Nice, for a summer vacation. Eugénie Berthier (Sofia Essaïdi) returns with her husband and son, and Léonie Morel (Constance Gay) comes to defend her father wrongfully sentenced to death for murder. Julie de Bona, Nolwenn Leroy, and Miou-Miou also star, and there are 6 episodes available now. And this series gets a 6.4/10 oi IMDb, and Archi Sengupta of called it “very enjoyable….” adding “its female-led, character-driven storytelling adds a uniqueness to the runtime that drives the series forward.” So I’m tuning in. Netflix also offers The Next Prince, a 2026 Thai romantic drama series. Here, Prince Khanin(Chawarin Perdpiriyawong) lives in a quiet life in London, going to college, with no idea he is the grandson of the King of Emmaly. But then the royal guard Charan(Pruk Panich) comes to visit, telling him of his orders to bring him home, to compete with five other clans, for the opportunity to be king. But Khanin refuses, rejecting the idea of a royal life, until he is attacked by assailants, in an apparent assassination attempt. And so, he returns, finding the competition fierce, and perhaps, romance, on his journey to claim the crown. Nirut Sirichanya, Karn Kritsanaphan and Saksit Tangthong also star, and there are 14 episodes available for streaming now. And it gets an impressive 7.2/10 on IMDb, and KrishnanaidU88 of The BL Xpres calls it “a regal extravaganza, it quickly grabs your attention and there is no way to escape its resplendent magic!” So I’m watching. Netflix has also added Human Vapor, a 2026 Japanese sci-fi thriller series. Here, a mysterious killer, later called the Human Vapor, begins killing people in Tokyo. Reporter Kyoko Kono (Yū Aoi) was one of the witnesses to his first murder of a professor, who pretty much exploded in front of Kono‘s eyes. Detective Kenji Okamoto (Shun Oguri) is called in, and finds a message from the killer, who promises more killings. But this culprit may be harder to catch, as he can disappear into a vapor, and enter his victim’s body, to kill them. Yu Aoi, Suzu Hirose, Kento Hayashi, UTA, and Haruka Imou also star, and there are 8 episodes available now. And this series gets a 6.9/10 on IMDb, and Pramit Chatterjee of Digital Mafia Talkies says “one of those rare pieces of art which defies every stereotype that’s associated with made-for-TV remakes or reimaginings of popular IP.” And the special effects are great, so I’m tuning in. This finds ex-agent Kim Do-hyeon(So Ji-sub), living a quiet life, dedicated to raising his daughter, Min-ji(Seo Su-min), after the death of his wife. Based on the novel by Tove Jansson(!), this tells of 6-year-old Sophia(Emily Matthews), returning to summer with her Grandmother(Glenn Close!) on her remote Finnish island, soon after the death of her mother.
