Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has an exciting add this week with Not Suitable for Work, a 2026 comedy series from Mindy Kaling(!). This series follows two twenty-something roomies AJ Pascarelli(Ella Hunt), who works as an celebrity stylist Vanessa Hsu (Constance Wu), and Abhinaya ‘Abby’ Chilukuri (Avantika), an investment bank analyst, as they try to navigate life in New York City,. Across the hall, Davis(Will Angus), Kel Washington (Nicholas Duvernay) and Teitelbaum (Jack Martin) share an apartment, with Will trying hard to get a date with AJ. And everyone is trying hard to adapt to the high pressure corporate world they have joined. Jay Ellis, Ego Nwodim and Judy Gold also star, and there are episodes available now. And this series gets a 6.5/10 on IMDb, and Amber Dowling of the Globe and Mail says “add in a fresh-faced cast and plenty of situational comedy, and it’s a fun and easy watch when you’re looking for a distraction.” So I’m watching. Hulu also offers In Cold Light, a 2026 thriller. After being released from prison, Ava(Maika Monroe), is framed for the murder of her twin brother Tom (Jesse Irving). So she takes off, with her brother’s baby in tow, but the crooked cop (Allan Hawco) is hot on her trail. And crime boss Claire(Helen Hunt!) wants a piece of Ava, too. Troy Kotsur, Patrick Sabongui and Jesse Irving also star, and Maxime Giroux directs. And though this movie gets but a 58% on Rotten Tomatoes, Claire Di Maio of But Why Tho? said “Maxime Giraud’s direction and Sara Mishara are a winning combination, elevating In Cold Light to something worth keeping an eye on.” You decide. Hulu has also added Keeper, a 2026 horror flick. Here, Liz (Tatiana Maslany) heads for a weekend getaway with her boyfriend Malcolm (Rossif Sutherland), to celebrate their anniversary. But while Malcom‘s family cabin is okay, his creepy cousin Darren(Birkett Turton) soon shows up with his girlfriend, to throw a pallor over the celebration. And the weekend progresses, Liz is haunted by strange visions, and begins to wonder if Malcolm is all he seems. Or if he’s a killer, with a bloody past, intent on making her his next victim. Eden Weiss, Erin Boyes and Claire Friesen also star, while Osgood Perkins directs. But this movie gets just a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Nadira Goffe of Slate says its “a movie that starts with immense promise but squanders it minute by minute. Despite a great performance from Maslany, Keeper struggles to remain innovative and definitely doesn’t stick the landing.” And you know it’s too scary for me. And finally, Hulu has added Doctor on the Edge, a 2026 K-drama romcom series. Here, Do Ji-ui(Lee Jae-wook) resigns from his job as a plastic surgeon, to work as a public health doctor, as part of his military service. But he’s not pleased to be assigned to the distant island of Pyeongdong-do, as it remoteness makes everything more difficult. Still, when he meets Yuk Ha-ri(Shin Ye-eun), a nurse at the Pyeondongdo Health Center. And he finds surprising connections with the villagers, and compassion for his patients. Hong Min-gi, Lee Soo-kyung, and Kim Yoon-woo also star, and there are 4 episodes available now, with 8 more to come. And this series gets a smashing 8/10 on IMDb, and Joel Keller of the Decider says to stream it, adding “has just enough medical drama and romantic comedy to be watchable, and it seems to avoid a lot of eye-rolling Korean romcom cliches.” And it’s definitely funny, so I’m tuning in.
NETFLIX
The big title added on Netflix this week has to be Office Romance, a 2026 romcom. Here, Jennifer Lopez(!) plays Jackie Cruz, the CEO of Cruz Airlines , who is forced to accept the representation of lawyer Daniel Blanchflower(Goldstein), in a lawsuit. And while everyone at work avoids Jackie like the plague, fearing her disapproval, Daniel falls in love with her, or course. And as the pair conduct a taboo workplace romance, they encounter plenty of problems. Betty Gilpin, Bradley Whitford(!) and Edward James Olmos(!) also star, and Ol Parker directed. But this romance gets only a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Nell Minow of
RogerEbert.com says “the dialogue sounds like it came out of an R-rated fortune cookie. Even worse, just when you think it’s over, there are extra scenes during the credits to prolong the agony.” So definitely not for me. Luckily, Netflix has also added Teach You a Lesson, a 2026 K-drama series. This takes place in a near-future S. Korea, with school violence getting out of hand. And so Na Hwa-jin(Kim Mu-yeol) and other members of the Educational Rights Protection Bureau, step in. They enter the school as educators, and bring bullies under control, by whatever means necessary. Lee Sung-min, Jin Ki-joo and Pyo Ji-hoon also star, and there are 10 episodes available now. and this series gets a whopping 8.5/10 on IMDb, and Archi Sengupta of Leisure Byte calls it “an enjoyable watch that looks great and is acted superbly. There’s not a lot of introspection happening, but the fast-paced action and swift consequences are rather satisfying sometimes. If nothing else.” So it’s on my list. Netflix also offers México 86, a 2026 Mexican comedy. Based somewhat on fact, this begins in 1983, with Martín de la Torre (Diego Luna!), working for the Mexican soccer federation. As he begins his efforts to bring the World Cup back to Mexico City, after Colombia forfeits being as the host city, he is intent on furthering his own career. De la Torre pulls every trick in the book to attain his goals. But whether he can survive the wrath of everyone he’s wronged on the way, to enjoy his victory, remains to be seen. Karla Souza, Daniel Giménez Cacho, Memo Villegas, and Genevieve Fleming also star, and Gabriel Ripstein directs. And this gets a 6.4/10 on IMDb, and Dionar Hidalgo of Algo Más Que Cine says “more interested in power than soccer, Mexico 86 is a witty political satire elevated by Diego Luna and Daniel Giménez Cacho. An entertaining reminder that the biggest games are often played far from the pitch.” And I’m tuning in. Netflix has also added 29, a 2026 Hindi comedy. This finds Sathya(Vidhu) dreading his upcoming 30th birthday, with no sense of purpose or identity. But then he meets Viji (Preethi Asrani), a driven young woman, with definite dreams of her own. As Viji offers Sathya’s life meaning and joy, Sathya thinks he has everything he needs. But when they break up, he’s forced to deal with his unhappiness with his life and himself, that may bring Viji back into his life. Preethi Asrani, Leona Lishoy and Sindhu Shyam also star, while Rathna Kumar directs. And this movie gets an incredible 8/10 on IMDb, and Bhuvanesh Chander of The Hindu Times says “even when it stumbles in its exploration of identity, Rathna Kumar‘s film captures the aching fantasy of love with striking conviction”. So I’m definitely watching. And, finally, Netflix has Ashes to Crown, a 2026 Chinese historical drama series. This tells the story of Chu Zhao(Duling Chen), the daughter of a military general, who is about to marry Xiao Xun for love. But she finds herself betrayed by her betrothed, and after tragedy, finds herself reborn, on the eve of her wedding. So Zhao helps Xie Yanlai(Yiran Zhou), an illegitimate son of a powerful family become a great leader, while avenging herself with her past fiancé. Chen Duling, Zhou Yiran, Tang Xiaotian, Wang Ruichang, Wu Shile, and Gao Maotong also star, and there are 9 episodes available now, with more to come. And this series gets an impressive 7.3/10 on IMDb, and Neerja Choudhuri of the Midgard Times calls it “entertaining, intriguing, and worth every watch.” And I’m definitely tuning in.
AMAZON
Amazon has few adds this week, but they do have What It Feels Like For A Girl, a 2025 British drama series. This series is an based on the memoir of trans activist Paris Lees about growing up in Northern England. It tells of Byron (Ellis Howard), living in Nottinghamshire, in the early 2000′s, always feeling left out at school, with his macho father looming over his shoulder. But Byron doesn’t feel comfortable identifying as a male, so when he meets Lady Die(Laquarn Lewis), who speaks of transsexuality, a new door seems to open in their life. And while Byron leads a terribly harsh life, filled with violence and abuse, he finds solace with his trans friends, who call themselves the Fallen Divas. Calam Lynch, Laura Haddock and Michael Socha also star, and there are 8 episodes available for streaming now. And this series was nominated for five BAFTAs in 2026, and gets a stunning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. And Nick Hilton of the Independent (UK) says “in a world where it is easy to feel pessimistic about the course of progress, What It Feels Like for a Girl presents an engaging – and rational – case for optimism.” So I’m watching. but this is a very explicit show, so probably not for the kiddos. Amazon has also added Groundswell, a 2026 documentary. This is the third in a trilogy of films, Common Ground (2023) and Kiss the Ground (2020), that explores three issues facing our planet today- climate change, species loss and soil loss. Here, different people, like Chris Newman, famous on TikTok for “Farming While Beige,” and other farmers, offer solutions to these problems. Practical solutions abound, with restorative agriculture and water saving techniques are stressed, with positive results like wildlife returning to affected areas, and dead soil becoming fertile again. And Prince William(!) even appears. Demi Moore(!) and Woody Harrelson(!) narrate, while Rebecca Harrell Tickell directs. And it gets a 6.3/10 on IMDb, and John Anderson of the Wall Street Journal said “he music is danceable, the editing is sprightly. There’s an idealist’s energy here that grows a bit too earnest, but the information is accessible. And basic. Even home gardeners might dig it, as they contemplate buying chickens.” So I’m tuning in. And, finally, Amazon has System, a 2026 Hindi thriller. Here, public prosecutor Neha Rajvansh (Sonakshi Sinha), tries to make a name for herself, always in the shadow of her famed father, Ravi Rajvansh(Ashutosh Gowariker). And he sets a high bar for her, demanding she win 10 cases in a row before she can join his illustrious firm. So she makes a deal with court stenographer Sarika Rawat(Jyotika), to get the inside dope that will make it easier for her to win. But then Neha gets to try a murder case, and finds that her father’s client may indeed by the culprit. Nishant Singh, Addinath M. Kothare and Upendra Chauhan also star, while Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari directs. And this movie gets a 6/10 on IMDb, and Archi Sengupta of Leisure Byte calls it “a great one-time watch.” So I’m watching.
So sit back and binge this weekend, on classics, old and new, on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Enjoy!
