Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has a huge add this week with The Drop: A Snowfall Saga, the 2026 FX drama series. In this sequel to 2023‘s Snowfall series, this takes place in 90’s L.A. with Wanda Bell (Gail Bean) getting started on a rap career, after finally getting off drugs. She and her cousins Lamar (Asante Blackk) and James (Peyton Alex Smith) start experimenting with beats , and handling clients, too. But as Wanda finds herself on the ascendant, the threats of violence and her old world threaten to pull her back down. Simmie “Buddy” Sims III, Isaiah John and Leon Simmons also star, and there are 3 episodes available now, with more to come. And this series gets a stunning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Kaiya Shunyata of RogerEbert.com called it a “singular experience, showcasing the intricacies of music, community, and survival in a time of upheaval.” So i’m tuning in. Hulu also offers Rich Flu, a 2024 sci-fi thriller. Here, just as Laura (Mary Elizabeth Winstead!), career is on the rise, and she’s living the good life, a virus strikes, but infecting only billionaires with it’s deadly wrath. As the victims begin showing it’s lethal signs, including glowing teeth, panic breaks out and civil unrest sets in. And it seems the only way to avoid the disease, is to give all your money away, if you can find anyone fool enough to take it. And, so Laura goes on a trek to Africa, to save herself and her family. Rafe Spall(!), Lorraine Bracco(!), Dixie Egerickx, and César Domboy also star, and Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia Munitxa directed. And this movie gets a 47% on Rotten Tomatoes, but Monita Roy Mohan of Stereo Geeks called it a “rich, intense tale of a world order turned upside down. It’s poignant and perfectly cautions against the wealth inequalities of our time. It should have spent a little more time diving into those aspects instead of indulging in a prolonged first act.” And I’m watching. Hulu has also added Together Together, a 2021 dramedy. Here, Matt(Ed Helms!), an app developer in his forties, decides to act on his wish to have kids, though unmarried. So he starts interviewing surrogates, including Anna(Patti Harrison) , who wants to finish her bachelor’s degree. And so the two begin their journey together, with Matt following Anna’s every move, even attending therapy together. But as the due date approaches, Anna fears she’s developing feelings for the unborn child, while Matt hovers nervously about her, and waits. Tig Notaro(!), Julio Torres and Rosalind Chao also star, and Nikole Beckwith directed. And this movie gets an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Aparita Bhandari of the Globe and Mail said “just Helms’ and Harrison’s expressions at these situations are enough to bring about chuckles.” So I’m watching. And finally, Hulu has Shiddat, a 2021 Hindi romance. This tells of Jaggi(Sunny Kaushal) who falls hard for Kartika(Radhika Madan), after they meet at a pool. But , though they become friends, Kartika tell Jaggi she is destined to be married to another man. But as as they grow closer, Kartika makes a deal with Jaggi, to meet in London in three months, to prove his love. But Jaggi cannot find a legal way to enter, and so he tries anything, swimming the English Channel. But will he survive his attempts? Mohit Raina, Vidhatri Bandi and Diana Penty also star, while Kunal Deshmukh directed. And this movie was nominated for multiple awrds in 2021, inclduing Best Director for Deshmukh at the Indian Television Academy Awards, and Radhika Madan went on to win the People’s Choice Best Actress for her work here, at the 2022 Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF). And this movie gets an exceptional 7.6/10 on IMDb, so, though I can find few online reviews, I’m tuning in.
NETFLIX
The big title on Netflix this week is probably Call My Agent! The Movie, the 2026 French comedy. This begins five years after ASK Agency closed, this finds Andréa(Camille Cottin) , an aspiring indie director, who hopes to get her first movie shot. But Meanwhile, her friend and colleague Gabriel (Grégory Montel) is now an agent for StarMédia, the rival company that swallowed ASK up. But while Andréa’s movie starts to fall apart before her eyes, with calamity after calamity striking the production, the old ASK agency appears to be coming back together. Vincent Macaigne, Fanny Sidney, and Laetitia Casta also star, and Emilie Noblet directs. And this movie gets an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Dana Stevens of Slate says it “Is a delight, even if you didn’t watch the show.” So I’m tuning in. Netflix has also added Vishwanath & Sons, a 2026 Hindi romantic drama. This follows retired Olympic medalist shooter Sanjay Vishwanath (Suriya), now a wealthy unmarried businessman, thrown into turmoil when his infant son Abhay becomes seriously ill, and in need of a bone marrow transplant. And so Sanjav is forced to travel to San Fracnisco, to reconnect with his son’s surrogate mom, Maddy (Mamitha Baiju), who agrees to be tested. And, as she is found compatible, the surgery proceeds, saving Abhay’s life, Maddy becomes more close to Abhay, and anxious to become apart of his life. But after the couple comes to an agreement about their son, a bond between them remains, that may ignite into something more. Radhika Sarathkumar, Sunil Reddy and Raveena Tandon also star, and Venky Atluri directs. And this movie gets an 7.5/10 on IMDb, and Bhuvanesh Chandar of the Hindu says “a charming Suriya and Mamitha Baiju carry Venky Atluri’s wholesome entertainer.” So I’m watching. Also new on Netflix is Crew Girl, a 2026 Canadian sports drama. This series follows Teagan (Miku Martineau), a rising star on her high school rowing team, who finds her life upended with her father’s scandalous behavior. So she starts at a new school, Easton Prep, which doesn’t have a girl’s rowing team at all. so she’s determined to become the coxswain on the men’s team there. But she’ll have to fight for the position, against males seeking the position, and a misogynistic tradition that appears to be entrenched in the community. Sam Braun, Kyle Clark, Jessica Paré, Thomas Cadrot, and Byron Lawson also star, and there are 8 episodes available for streaming now. And this series gets a respectable 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Liz Hersey of Screen Rant says “while Crew Girl isn’t destined for awards and mass acclaim, its warm, empathetic escapism makes it prime for cozy repeat viewings.” And I love the rowing angle, so I’m watching. Netflix has also added Love Upon a Time, a 2026 Thai romantic series. Here, the luckless college student Nakhun(JJ Radchapon Phornpinit) finally hits bottom, after he fails a history exam. As he sits and drinks, by a lake, when a shooting star suddenly appears, he is thrown 400 years back into Thailand’s Ayutthaya Kingdom, led by King Songtham. And everyone assumes Nakhon is Master Klao, who was beset by scandal. So Nahkun has to deal with difficulty, but as he befriends people like JJ, he finds a wisdom that helps him deal with adversity, that might even help him escape back to his own time. Radchapon Phornpinit, Siraphop Manithikhun, and Thanutchon Chankaew-armon also star, and there are 12 erpisodes available now. And this series gets a whopping 8.3/10 on IMDb, and Ayishah Ayat Toma of Gazettely says this series “succeeds by grounding a wild premise in emotional truth. It balances physical humor with a serious look at historical injustice.” So I’m watching. And, finally, Netflix has added Us in the End, a 2026 Filipino romance. This finds the established couple Cisco(Donny Pangilinan) and Cheska(Belle Mariano), together for years, experiencing real difficulties. As they work together in the same advertising agency, the stress finally threatens to break them apart. And so, they embark on a trip, a ‘break-up trip,’ to see if they should finally call it off. River Joseph, Yayo Aguila and Joross Gamboa also star, and Cathy Garcia-Sampana directs. And this movie gets an astounding 8.3/10 on IMDb, and Nazamel Tabares of Pelikula Mania calls it “the definitive love story of this generation.” And I’m tuning in.
AMAZON
Amazon‘s biggest add this week is Drawn Together, a 2026 romantic thriller. Based on a novel by Mercedes Ron(Culpa Mea), this finds ballet dancer Marfil Cortés(Ester Expósito), daughter of a Spanish financier, almost kidnapped in NYC. So her father arranges for a bodyguard, Sebastián Moore(Hugo Diego Garcia) to accompany her everywhere, even living in her apartment with her. But Marfil doesn’t realize her billionaire father, Alejandro (Pablo Molinero) is really a mob boss, and that her life will continue to be in jeopardy. Eric Masip, Pablo Molinero, Zoe Bonafonte, and Lluís Homar also star, while Óscar Pedraza directs. But this movie gets only a 5.5/10 on IMDb, and Cath Clarke of the Guardian calls it a “preposterous romance with all the erotic charge of leaf mulch.” So I’m definitely not tuning in. Luckily Amazon also offers El Juicio, a 2026 Spanish legal drama series. Titled The Trial in English and based on a true story, with a teenage girl raped by a classmate at school. But the rapist is the son of a rich man, who will go to any lengths to protect his son, no matter how guilty he is. Eugenio Derbez Pedro Alonso, Héctor Jiménez, Karla Gaytán and Íker Sánchez Solano also star, and there are 8 episodes available now. And this series gets a 6.8/10 on IMDb, so, while I can find no reviews as yet, I’m tuning in. And, finally, Amazon has added American Classic, a 2026 comedy series. The story, here, tells of Richard Bean(Kevin Kline!) legendary Broadway star and narcissist whose outlandish behavior finally goes too far, he’s suspended. In fact, his long suffering agent, Alvy Stritch (Tony Shalhoub!) advises Bean to leave New York until the commotion dies down. And when Bean learns of the death of his mother Ethel (Jane Alexander!) So he finds himself returning to his hometown of Millersburg, PA. But he’s hardly welcome there either, especially by his brother Jon(Jon Tenney), and his wife, Kristen Forrest Bean (Laura Linney!). And when Richard tries to mount Our Town in the family theater, he manages to raise the hackles of his family even more. Len Cariou, Nell Verlaque, Jessica Hecht, and Ajay Friese also star, and there are 8 episodes available for bingeing now. And this series gets a shining 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, and David Biancullim of NPR said “take the effort to find, and watch, American Classic. It’ll remind you why, when it’s this good, it’s easy to love the theater. And television.”
