Yes, it’s that time again, the weekend, and time to review the best new movies and television shows added online this week, to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. And there are some exciting new adds this week, so let’s get started.
HULU
Hulu has a big add with Season 2 of The Lowdown, the 2026 FX mystery/thriller series. This season finds Lee Raybon(Ethan Hawke) confronted by another mystery, when he gets involved with public defender, Gjnger(Betty Gilpin!) . When Ginger tells Lee that one of her clients is missing, and that she’s being followed, he can’t help but get involved, how ever ill-advised that is. And then Raybon‘s father, ‘Frog’.(Tommy Lee Jones!) suddenly shows up, wanting to insinuate himself back into his son and granddaughter’s lives, And complications arise in Ginger‘s case, Raybon, once again, finds himself up to his eyeballs, in trouble. Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Keith David(!) and Kaniehtiio Horn also star, and there are 8 episodes available now. And this series gets a stunning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Tania Hussain of Colider calls it “positively spectacular. Sharper, funnier, and more purposeful, the mystery tightens in every episode without ever feeling overwhelming.” And I’m definitely tuning in. Hulu has added Night Patrol, a 2025 horror thriller. Here, Ethan Hawkins (Justin Long), has always wanted to be a cop like his father, who is a legend on the police force. As Ethan works with his partner, Xavier Carr(Jermaine Fowler!), an ex-Crips gang member, he dreams of joining the Night Patrol, an elite group of officers his fathers leads. But all is not as it seems, since the Night Patrol is a murderous group of vigilante officers, who all happen to be undead. So it falls to the Crips and the Bloods, and Ethan, to battle the bloodthirsty squad, while there is still time to save the city. Dermot Mulrooney, Justin Long, Freddie Gibbs, RJ Cyler, and Nicki Micheaux also star, and Ryan Prows directed. And this movie gets a 56% on and Matt Zoller Seitz of RogerEbert.com said it’s “far from perfect, but it’s got a certain something that pulls you in. The bleakness of its worldview is matched by the integrity of its filmmaking and performances.” But still too intense for me. Hulu also offers Nosferatu, the 2024 horror reboot. This takes place in 1839 Germany, with real estate agent Thomas Hutter(Nicholas Hoult) heading to Wisborg, in Transylvania, to complete the sale of a house to Count Orlok(Bill Skarsgård!). But Orlok has a strange power over women, and so Hutter’s wife Ellen (Lily Rose Depp!) is entranced by him, and Orlok is determined to own her soul. And Hutter too falls under the count’s spell, he signs away his wife’s future to him. And as the struggle for Ellen‘s soul rages, so does the fight for Wisborg, where evil seems determined to prevail. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin and Willem Dafoe(!) also star, and Robert Eggers directed. And this movie, nominated for 4 Oscars, gets a respectable 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Soren Andersen of the Seattle Times said “it’s not the best Dracula movie of all time, though it aspires to that. Murnau’s original still leads the pack. But it certainly is the most stylish. Eggers is a filmmaker with astonishing visual flair.” And, finally Hulu has added Human, a 2022 Hindi thriller series. This takes place in Bhopal India, where thousands died in 1984, due to a chemical leak, leaving many survivors scarred. That includes Dr. Gaurinath (Shefali Chhaya), whose whole family died in the tragic leak, and who went on to turn her anger and grief into a career in medicine. Working at the Manthan hospital, Nath’s mentee Dr. Saira Sabbarwal (Kirti Kulhari) notices some irregularities in her patients health, that leads her to a pharmaceutical trial by Vayu company. But will Dr. Gaurinath and others heed Saira‘s warning and investiagte further, before its too late? Vishal Jetha, and also star, and there is one episodes available now, with more to come. And this series gets a whopping 7.7/10 on IMDb, and All About OTT called it “an intense and engrossing series.” So I’m watching.
NETFLIX
Netflix has few big titles added this week, but they do have Sacrifice, the 2025 French black comedy. Here, when fading movie star Mike Tyler (Chris Evans) heads to a Greek Island, for a celebration with billionaire Ben Bracken (Vincent Cassel), he dreams of a comeback, while rubbing elbows with the super rich. But then he’s abducted by an eco-terrorist group, Green Isis, led by Gunnar (John Malkovich!), and his daughters, including Joan(Anya Taylor-Joy!).And the group is intent on throwing Tyler and his fellow abductees into a nearby volcano, thereby restoring balance to the planet. Salma Hayek, Sam Richardson, and Jade Croot also star, while Romain Gavras directs. And this movie premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, but gets only a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. Still, Beatrice Loayza of the New York Times says “The film is strangely watchable thanks to the sheer volume of curveballs and cameos, from a slinky Charli XCX performance to John Malkovich as a mad scientist with an indecipherable accent.” And I’m watching. Netflix also offers The Trap, a 2026 German psychological thriller series. This finds Lisa Konrad(Friederike Becht), horribly traumatized after witnessing the murder of her sister. Unable to leave her house, and under a doctor’s care, Lisa believes she recognizes the killer’s face on TV. So she decides to write a book about the murder, and to invite the murderer to her house, for ‘an interview,’ that will lead who knows where. Hans Löw, Alexander Schubert and Naila Schuberth also star, and there are 6 episodes available for streaming now. And this series gets an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Andrew Murray of the The Upcoming calls it ” a familiar but nevertheless compelling slow-burn thriller where everything isn’t as it seems.” So count me in. Netflix has also added Money Trap: The Karun Treasure, a 2026 Turkish action adventure series. This series revolves around Asım Noyan (Yılmaz Erdoğan), a notorious con man working with his wife, Lerzan (Ezgi Mola). who learns of the discovery of a renowned treasure map. And Asim could desperately use a treasure, since thug Sarı Saruhan (Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ) is on his trail, wanting him to pay his overdue gambling debts. But Asim faces a lot of dangerous competition, as word has gotten out about the map, and the treasures to be found with it’s help. Önem Piskin, Uraz Kaygilaroglu, and Demet Akbağ also star, and there are 8 episdoes available for streaming now. And this series gets a 6.1/0 on IMDb and Joel Keller of the Decider says to stream it, adding “supposed to be a fun, light romp of a series and its first episode does a good job setting up what viewers should expect from it.” So I’m watching. Netflix also offers Therapy Done Right, a 2026 Argentine comedy. This finds psychoanalyst Ulises Verón (Ricardo Darín) frustrated with the traditional tools of his trade that don’t seem to work, so he abandons those ideas, and instead, inserts himself in his patients lives, actually trying to solve their problems for them. Then the famed author, Martín Bouchard (Diego Peretti), seeks out Verón’s treatment, for a drinking problem that accompanies his writing. But as other’s are incensed with Verón‘s messianic behavior, Bouchard seeks to insert the analyst into his own life more and more, losing any of the independence he once had. Eugenia Alonso, Antonia Bengoechea, and Inés Efrón also star, while Hernán Goldfrid directs. And this movie gets an impressive 7.1/10 on IMDb, and Guillermo Courau of La Nación (Argentina) said “Darín and Peretti hold a chemistry that transcends the screen. With distinct yet complementary styles, their scenes together elevate the dialogue to such a degree that it’s difficult to imagine another pair carrying the story.” And I’m watching. And, finally, Netflix has added 100 Days of Deception, a 2026 K-drama limited historical drama series. This takes place in 1932, with Korea, occupied by the imperial Japanese, after killing thousands, while leaving many homeless. Lee Ga-kyung (Kim You-jung), was one of those left in poverty, now a pickpocket, with the unusual skills of speaking English, Korean, and Japanese. So she is asked to infiltrate the Japanese colonial government in Gyeongseong, never realizing, while doing so, she would become emotionally involved with Government-General interpreter Sato Hideo (Park Jin-young). Or that Hideo himself has secrets of his own, that may make the couple’s future together impossible. Lee Ga-kyung, Kim Hyun-joo and Kim Do-hyun also star, and there are 3 episodes available for bingeing now, with 13 more to come, and 2 new episodes dropping every weekend . And this series gets a rousing 8.3/10 on IMDb, and Jonathan Wilson of Ready Steady Cut says “immediately engaging and bristling with tension…This one Is going to be good.” And I definitely agree, so I’m tuning in.
AMAZON
Amazon has a major add this week with Love of Your Life, a 2026 romantic drama. This finds ER nurse Maya (Margaret Qualley) finally meeting the man of her dreams, Charlie (Gabriel Basso), in Boston. But, then Covid hits, and Charlie does not survive the disease. And Maya is left to confront her grief, and life alone. As she travels the world, Maya can find no escape, drinking and having only one night stands. Then she meets Felix(Aaron Pierre), and falls in love, but still flees the situation. Finally, she returns to Cape Cod, seeking solace from Charlie‘s mother Ruth(Catherine Keener(!). Tamara Lawrance, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aidan Cheng and Corey Johnson also star, and Rachel Morrison (The Fire Inside!) directs. And this movie gets an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Guy Lodge of Variety says “for viewers after a grownup romantic drama with equal, counterbalancing side servings of tearjerking trauma and glossy wish-fulfillment, Love of Your Life will handsomely suffice.” But a bit weepy for me. Amazon has also added Scream 7, the 2026 horror sequel. This time we find survivor Sydney Prescott(Neve Campbell) healed, running a bookstore, married to police chief, Mark Evans(Joel McHale!)and living with her family in Pine Grove, Indiana. But when she learns Ghostface is back, and this time, after her daughter,Tatum(Isabel May). So Sydney sets out to stop Ghostface, along with Mark, as the bodies pile up around town. Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Courteney Cox also star, and Kevin Williamson directs. But this movie gets a measly 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, and David Fear of Rolling Stone said “the villain is technically Ghostface per usual, but the real killer is nostalgia, which has metastasized into something terminal this time around.” But if you’re in desperate need of horror, with Halloween approaching, this might fit the bill. And, finally, Amazon has Your Sensibility My Destiny, a 2022 Chinese romance series. Here, Lin Chi(Bu Guan Jin) is a roving martial arts master, who travels the countryside, robbing from the rich, to give to the poor. But then, while pursued by victims, Chi jumps into the carriage of Mo Qing Chen(Wang Xing Yue), a prince. But while the prince lives in luxury, with all his physical needs attended to, he cannot sense the world around him, due to a curse. And when Lin Chi touches him, her touch suddenly makes him capable of feeling the world around him. While those around her want Lin Chi to marry the prince, and turn her ability to help him into gold, she is reluctant to do so. But the pair end up entering into a strange contract, with Lin Chi required to stay at Mo Qing Chen’s side. But can it last? Jiulin Li, Marcus Chang and Xuehan Zhang also star, and there are 24 episodes available for bingeing now. And this series gets an incredible 7.7/10 on IMDb, so, despite the fact that I can find no online reviews, as yet, I’m watching.
